Diamond District Jewelers, Reputable Jewelers, White Gold Diamond Engagement Rings and more…
There are three excellent English phrases/idioms in English that use the word jewels. The first is “crown jewels.” This means prized possession, and transfers the value of royal jewelry to everyday objects that are of importance. To use it in a sentence: My wife’s fine china and porcelain collections are the crown jewels of our home.
The second, is “to be a jewel in the crown.” This refers to an item that is the best, or most successful part of another thing, in the way that a jewel adorns a crown, making it worthier. It differs from the above in that it is typically used in a more abstract manner. Here’s an example of common usage: Rome was the jewel in the crown of the ancient world.
The third, and my personal favorite, is “family jewels.” This refers to the testicles, which are similarly important to a family, because they allow for the familial line to continue. In everyday usage: During a goalkick at the World Cup, all of the players line up and put their hands over their groins to protect the family jewels.
Jewel can also be used colloquially to describe something of importance, or something beautiful. To learn more about jewels like white gold diamond engagement rings, visit the diamond district NY. The diamond district NY is the jewel in the crown of the world’s diamond business.
