Diamond District NY Meets With NYPD
The Diamond District NY is known for many things, but one thing it isn’t known for is being an unsafe environment. The safety and ease New Yorkers feel when breezing past the shops of their favorite reputable jewelers in the diamond district is a feeling that these same reputable ejwlers want to keep, if not enhance.
That’s why the President of the Diamond Dealers Club of New York (DDCNY) Moshe Mosbacher, Dr. Martin Hoffman the Managing Director, and the Security Director Rick Pettignano met last month with New York Police Department Deputy Inspector Timothy Beaudette to discuss the current state of security in the district.
Meeting with Pettignano, the Commanding Officer Midtown North Precinct, are held more frequently than those in other districts, because of what Mosbacher called the diamond district NY’s “special circumstances and needs.” For those who are unaware, that’s because there are arguably more diamonds in the NYC diamond district than there is in the entire five boroughs.
Nothing major came out of the meeting, as both sides seemed to bring a “business as usual” mentality to the gathering. That being said, for shoppers and business owners of the district, it is a positive sign to see that security in the area is still a top priority.
After all, who doesn’t like feeling safe?
