Diamond District Jewelers, Reputable Jewelers, White Gold Diamond Engagement Rings and more…
With the start of a new month comes a brand new birthstone to incorporate into your wardrobe. For the month of October you can enjoy the beauty of opal. Opal might sometimes get snubbed, but how could anyone not like a gemstone that has all the colors of the rainbow dancing in the light? Actually, it’s the national gemstone of Australia –they also produce 97% of the world’s supply. Depending on how it formed, the gem can take on several different colors, making each one unique. Red against black hues are the most rare and white and greens are the most common.
If you’re not into opal, you’re in luck because pink tourmaline is also considered the birthstone of October. Tourmaline actually has the broadest selection of colors and is often confused for other gemstones. But this month you’ll just have to settle for pink. An interesting tidbit about tourmaline is that when it is warmed or rubbed, it can actually attract small bits of paper, lint, and ash. Because its discovery occurred far later than other gemstones, it doesn’t have quite as rich a history.
Whether you were born in October or not, it won’t hurt to add a little of these gems into your jewelry. Shop gemstones, diamond engagement rings, and other diamond jewelry online at I.D. Jewelry.
